Katie+Tim // Brooklyn Wedding

I’ll start by saying this wedding was a joy to photograph. Katie and Tim are so cute and fun loving. Plus, there were sooo many gorgeous details! I left like a kid in a candy store trying to capture it all. I love how crafty they got with the decor. I heard stories of Tim slaving away making the wooden skylines. The seating chart was equally special. To top it off, Mymoon is beautifully rustic with lots of character. What could possibly go wrong?? Rain of course! We were all anxiously waiting to see if the rain would cease. Even then, a few drops did not hinder the celebration. I love happy endings.

I want to thank  the very talented Alice Gao for being an amazing second shooter.

Can we talk about those maple bacon cupcakes??? I know, sounds strange but so amazing!!!

Justin Lee // Brooklyn

Justin is a good photographer friend of mine who was in need of some new profile photos.

Justin (a Nikon guy) couldn’t resist in borrowing my Canon to test it out. I’m trying to get him to convert. hahaha On a side note, I got this cute 20s inspired hat for my birthday. Yippee!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I want to thank all of you for your support this year! Just when it seemed like I was having a bad day I would get an inspirational email from a fan and it would get me going again. I feel so grateful and blessed to be able to do what I love for a living. I’ve met so many fabulous people this year which only gets me more excited for the next. Once again thank you thank you thank you!…and yes that includes you who’s reading my blog right now.

The backstory to this shoot

I’ve had an obsession with Geronimo Balloons for some time! I decided I wanted to be crafty and make it for my birthday. I got sick and it never happened…womp womp. Then I figured I can do it for the holidays. I rallied up some photo friends—Alice Gao who’s standing next to me, and Justin Lee behind the camera. It was an unusually warm day in December so it was the best day to have a fun shoot.

To make the cool tassles I bought some tissue paper and pretty much followed this tutorial. The funniest part about the whole thing was walking around manhattan with a 3 ft balloon! Kids and adults alike stood in awe of it. I even had people come up to me wanting to get a photo with it! These balloons would make a great prop for an engagement session or an event!

Kate+Joe | Brooklyn Wedding

I know this might sounds bad coming from a Queens girl but, I think Brooklyn weddings are starting to become my favorite. Plus, I’m starting to see a trend in restaurant weddings and I love it! Bubby’s in DUMBO Brooklyn has a country chic feel. Add a few DIY elements and you’re sure to have a cute and fun wedding.

You might remember Kate and Joe from their fun Coney Island engagement session.

By the way, those cool lanterns were set up by Bona Angela Design.  Also in Brooklyn .

Nautical Glam styled shoot | Shoot this not that workshop

California is one of my happy places. I would make any excuse to go and visit so when my friend Paola asked me to come to this workshop with her, I didn’t need too much convincing. The workshop is called Shoot This Not That and its hosted by Summer Watkins from Grey Likes Weddings. It was about refining your eye and getting published. I decided to take a chance and shoot film. Since I couldn’t commit fully it’s a mix of digital with film. My heart totally skipped a beat when I received the film scans. It has a soft organic quality that can’t be reproduced.

The shoot and location was like pure eye candy. I can definitely see the difference having a stylist makes. Hopefully I’ll have more styled sessions in 2012!

I know i have a similar photo up top but this is the film version. Isn’t it dreamy??
